GCSE Results

August 22, 2014 7 Comments
I'm in the newspaper tomorrow!
GCSE results are out in the open. Many have done exceedingly well and let's say some have been quite awful but let's blame Michael Gove for every bad result. Us as Year 11's have had the bad end of the government changing the way GCSE's are taken from grade boundaries to the conduction of the exam and to think we are the guinea pigs of linear exams I think we've done tremendously well despite the messing around. I am extremely infuriated by the English grade boundaries, they were ridiculously high, they were probably at an A-level boundary. I've passed most of my subjects apart from French which I flunked as I struggled with foreign languages but it's cool I don't plan on going to France any time soon. I mean how many tenses? I was real confuffled.

I hope everyone received the grade they wished for!
I wish you all luck in the next chapter of your life.
Hard work well and truly pays off.

With love
Molly

RANT // Society and Media

August 04, 2014 19 Comments

I see both mannequins as okay even though one is curvy and one has visible ribs. It's equality and this is what we are trying to achieve. Yes, the one with visible ribs sparks controversy but actually it's quite reassuring that brands think of both body types as okay. What isn't right is a person slamming a thin girl as anorexic or encouraging eating disorders. Eating disorders are more complex than the portrayal of mannequins. Both images are as equally triggering to both eating disorder sufferers and thin girls trying to gain a significant amount of weight for society to class them as a "real woman".

Size 6/8 and happy!

RANT TIME!
When will society stop judging us over physical appearance? It shouldn't matter if you want to walk down the street with a face-full of makeup or want to go natural. It shouldn't matter if you're weightier or thinner than the girl next door, let alone feeling pressured to be a Topshop size 4/6. The desperation girls and boys go through is unbelievable in this age. When will the media stop promoting diets in every magazine out there. In the modelling industry it shouldn't matter whether you're 5"8 or 4"11, discrimination is sickening. You shouldn't have dreams torn down because of appearance. When applying for a job it shouldn't matter if your hair colour is too "extreme", it's only a harmless colour which is NOT representative of your working capability. We shouldn't have to dress a certain way to please somebody. Sweats are okay and so are mini-skirts. Girls, you can wear a low cut top or a short skirt. Nothing is wrong with that. If you see a guy/girl staring at your assets and you find it uncomfortable, it is classed as sexual harrassment. It is never okay to feel unsafe.

Girls...
Girls are a girls worst enemy. They can be quite disgusting to one another. They may make a remark about weight or general appearance. Targeting hit weaknesses (insecurities).

Need for perfection?
The media are putting a huge weight on many young girls shoulders about being a certain size. I mean I was a size 10 in year 10 which is pretty average in my opinion but the power of the media made me feel like a whale. There are thousands of girls out there starving themselves to be perfection. Perfection is not achievable. We all are perfect in imperfect ways. Eating a balanced diet and exercising will help you to lose weight and tone up but people shouldn't fall into the starving trap which will only lead to severe body dysmorphia (BDD). A desire to lose a dress size is perfectly normal and I did it for myself and body-confidence, don't let someone's manipulative way take effect on you!

The dream of a thigh gap...
The need for a thigh gap is still in bodily trend, why? They're only a little space between your two thighs and if you have one cool, if you don't that's cool too. I have a thigh gap (a small one) but that's primarily down to inner thigh workouts and eating right. If you want a thigh gap, go for it but the safe way I beg of you. People must remember some women can't get them down to bone structure. Don't thrive on the obsession.

Want a bikini body?
Get a bikini and put it on your body no matter what your body shape is.
Embrace it.
You are beautiful!!
